This Week I...

Am getting so excited to see all the pretty bits come together at a client's home. That tile you see will be on the entire wall behind those cabinets and it will be STUNNING! (I feel like you have to sing the word STUNNING as if you were on Glee.)
Do you like the little paint chip ring I made for my client so she can keep all her paint colors handy? I'm the best designer ever. You should totally hire me.

Check out the tile we put in the same client's master bath...it is GORGEOUS!!! I told her I would feel like every time I showered I would discover a new favorite. They look like aerial shots of landscapes to me. This iPhone pic does not do it justice. LOVE.

I have made a new friend, David Frasier, at Reclaimed Design Works. They have the most beautiful showroom at 132 East Bay Street in downtown Charleston. I am getting some old barn wood, 28' beams and some reclaimed mantles for a clients home. They are beyond AMAZING!

Oh, I'm also doing an "art piece" above the fireplace in another room with these wood tiles.

Y'all should definitely go check out their showroom, you will be blown away! Tell David I sent you in there.

So this weekend is the Cooper River Bridge Run. If you are curious if I am running it the answer is no. a) I don't run. b) I walk to bridge at least three times a week but I don't enjoy doing it with 40,000 other people.
But it is a fun weekend in Charleston so you might see me somewhere afterwards drinking a Bloody Mary!

Then I get to go see my three favorite boys in the world....
If you can believe it, they've actually never been to see me in Charleston so while they are staying at Grandma and Granddad's, they are going to come spend some time with Aunt Sidney in Charleston. I couldn't be more excited!!!

Have a great weekend y'all!

Ping Pong

I love this...only Jonathan Adler would cover his ping pong table in a retro print so it would work into his decor! And check out those legs. Brilliant.

Jonathan Adler's Palm Beach style

I would totally put that sh*t in my living room (or somewhere in my house) and work on my skills. Pretty soon I'd be able to play these people...

Spring Cleaning Your Closet

So I transitioned my closet from "winter" to "spring." I say it in quotes because we don't really have seasons here and our winter was very mild. But I don't have a large closet so I have to rotate things like sweaters for bathing suits/cover-ups. I am a major purger so I like to get rid of stuff and start over! So I tried taking a bunch of stuff to a local consignment shop but was utterly offended by their offer. I took three bags of things including about 12 handbags/clutches and some shoes/scarves and they wanted to give me $58! Um, no thanks. I mean, I have my pride! lol A friend forwarded me this site, Closet Groupie, and I thought it was rather genius idea.

Anyway, all of this spring cleaning got me organizing my closet (if you know me at all you know this is one of my FAVORITE things to do!) so I looked to some fabulous closets for inspiration. Let's take a look....

Built-in Vanity...Oh My!

Built-ins crush! And that green

I bet none of these people would get offered $58 at the consignment shop.

Fun At The Bar

I saw this on Pinterest when searching for barstools...

nuns on bar stools

and it made me chuckle. Especially the lady on the left, she's like "What?"

Also, I think these are those generic brown inexpensive barstools you see at every chain home store

i.e.

but painted turquoise...

They are SO much cooler, aren't they?

There Is A Spring In My Step!

Ahhh, spring! Don't you just LOVE it! Not that we have had a rough winter here in Charleston but just knowing we will get to spend lots of time outdoors in the sunshine...makes me super happy! And speaking of the outdoors, is your outdoor living space all ready for spring entertaining? If not, call me, I'd love to help! It is one of my favorite spaces to work on!!! I love all of the outdoor friendly products and nature inspired decor elements...gives me lots of opportunities to think outside the box. Remember last year when I used galvanized conduit piping as an outdoor drapery rod? Or when I turned an architectural find into my outdoor coffee table? Yeah, stuff like that. I do normal things too. But I think the key is first making it a functional and comfortable living space then add a few of those unexpected "wow" moments to keep your house from looking like page 38 of the Frontgate catalog. [Nothing against you Frontgate.]

Here are some outdoor spaces from my Pinterest Board to get you inspired....

A Wee Bit O' Green

A wee bit o' green goes a long way in these rooms, don't you think?

This Week I...

Cannot tell you the utter joy in stumbling upon a new shipment of Carrara Marble! There were rows and rows of it. Makes my job easy when you need three matching slabs! Not so easy when you have to go to several distributors to find slabs that coordinate and they have nothing in stock. Fellow designers, I'm sure you can relate...its the little things. My client was happy, I'm happy.

Did you see this?

OMG. Jamar was so humbled and Jamie was so gracious, I was bawling my eyes out...I felt like such a fool.

Well, not that big of a fool.

Sometimes life scares me how fast it moves. I met with a former client this week whom I helped 10, yes 10 years ago! She was one of the first client's I helped as I started my own design business while working at a local retail shop. Her and her husband have inherited the husband's family home and they are renovating it and wanted some design input. 10 years! Oh my. I still knew all the colors we picked, by name, for her second home here. 10. Years. Ago.

Here is yet another example of how time flies....

This is my oldest nephew, Finn.
At least that is how I want to imagine him.

Here is what he really looks like...

When did this happen???

I brought new inventory to my booth over at Southern Accents yesterday...

And while I was there, I marked down almost everything in my booth! Go check it out...

More progress on this...will tell you more about it soon!
Eeeek!

Have a great weekend!

Paving The Way...

I've been working on an outside space and I'm really inspired by some of these photos of pavers and moss/grass designs I've seen on Pinterest....

Looks much better than the weeds that grow out of mine.
