Artist Love

I don't claim to know a lot about art. But I do know what I like! And to me that is all that matters when it comes to purchasing art....you have to love it, be moved by it and/or leave the gallery or shop dreaming about it. Through all my blog reading, I have come across some amazing artists (I love) lately and wanted to share these talents with you.

Twenty Six in her Ocean Moods Collection

Sunset 10

White Cottage With Orange Door

Four Seasons: Winter

And while talking about art, I wanted to mention The Charleston Artist Collective, a website for local artists that want to showcase their work outside of the conventional gallery setting. Each month, the site features artist's interpretations of a new theme and a percentage of the sales goes back towards the community. Go check it out!

Kelly Wearstler

Like it or not, she's got style.

Despite being from Myrtle Beach (sorry).

And here is where her wardrobe lives...

I am experiencing what one might call Envy.

It Takes Two To Make A Thing Go Right

I am admittedly overly symmetrical but come on....

How can you not be?

You get it now, right?

I Am FLORed!

I am LOVING this rug from FLOR!!!
Individual carpet tiles that work in many ways...

Spill on one tile, it can be easily replaced. Great if you have kids! (Or if you are clumsy.)

Have you been watching the NATE show? Apparently he invited a bunch of design bloggers to a taping. Clearly, my invite got lost in the mail! But from the sound of it I am glad that I missed it. Read what happened here. I watched the first episode and had high hopes for the show. I heart Nate. However, I have dvr'ed it and finally watched a few shows this weekend. The Dolly episode did make me weep like a sissy when she sang "I Will Always Love You" to the family that lost their mom at childbirth. And cheers to Nate for helping people in their time of need. But I wish he would have just one show a week with WAY better content. Let's take Oprah out of the loop and let Nate do his thing...design. He is good at it. [To end on a comic note...I must admit it was rather awkward when Dolly sang a bit of "Jolene" to the very same family! WTF? Poor song choice Dolly.]

What Makes You Happy?

I love this! I do think that each day you can make the choice to be happy or not. It ain't always easy but you CAN make the choice. And on those especially hard days, try to think of some things that make you happy. Today I will be thinking of.....

I cannot resist a Golden. I want one!

Interior Design

People that pay me to do interior design!

My favorite men.

The color blue.

The beach.

Listening to good music.

Being creatively stimulated.

Laughing out loud.

Retail Therapy.

An organized closet.

And here are a couple of things that have made me happy lately...

When my nephew Finn told me I should buy the house next door to my brother as we saw the current tenants moving out so that he could see me whenever he wanted. (Sweetheart) He also told me he thought it was "weird" that I wasn't married but I choose to ignore that comment.

When my nephews told me that I was their favorite aunt! (Nevermind the fact that I am their only aunt.)

When I found the perfect pair of knee-high grey suede boots, in my size AND on sale. (Score!)

Getting Mexican and margaritas with one of my best buds and seeing her face light up as she talked about her new man! (Yeah!!!)

Seeing my friends with their new babies....I had six friends have babies within about six weeks of each other. (Joy!)

What makes you happy???

Happy Friday Everyone...Choose Happiness today!

It's Officially Fall...You Sure About That?

With temps in the 90's it is hard to get inspired for fall but I am trying my best! I love fall: football, Halloween, bonfires, fairs, new TV shows, sweaters and boots oh my! Yesterday a client booked me to come help decorate her home for Thanksgiving. Yikes! I am still in beach mode...

Reminder: Today is the first day of the Lux Antiques and Interiors sale. I scouted it out yesterday and there are LOADS of good deals! Go check it out!

And I can't let the day pass without giving a lil' shout out to my adorable nephew Garrett. Happy Birthday Buddy! You bring so much joy to my life! I love you (this) much! Mwah!

Happy Place

This is a teenager's bedroom that I did a year or so ago. A local publication recently featured it in an article on the "Happy Place" in your home in their Home and Garden issue. Poor Annie, being the youngest of three girls, had always received hand-me-downs. Once her two older sister's left for college, her mom (who I had worked with throughout their home) hired me as Annie's birthday present to redecorate her room...from scratch! Since she was now thirteen, Annie wanted something more "grown up" and her mom wanted something that could eventually transition into a guest bedroom. Annie was so cute, she drew out an image of what she wanted her room to look like and was very hands-on with me as we selected fabrics and paint colors. I even gave her two blank canvases to create her very own masterpiece! I had a blast as I always do when working with children...I get to be a kid again myself! Fun, fun!

Here is a copy of the article if you are at all interested...

SWF: Yes, I Mean Single White Female!

I have said it before and I will say it again, I want to be Suzanne Kasler. Not in a creepy way, but I would like to have her career. And what a cool office! Mine looks eerily like it....minus the size, minus the staff and minus the style. Poo! Now that my office is empty(ish) since I just dropped off a massive load of goods at the Lux Antiques and Interiors Sale...I think I am going to do a lil' re-design much like Jennifer Jason Leigh recreated her look in this terrifying movie. (But hopefully my new office won't kill it's twin, a puppy or a man with a stiletto.)

Here is her book, it is inspiring! Go buy it.
